School girl sexually assaulted in Hagley Park
Christchurch Police are investigating a sexual assault on a 16 year old girl in Hagley Park last night.
At 9.00pm last night Christchurch hospital staff alerted Police after a 16 year old girl reported to them that she had been sexually assaulted in North Hagley Park sometime between 3.30 pm and 8.25 pm.
The victim was wearing her school uniform, a white short sleeved shirt and a short skirt.
The alleged offender is described as a very tall male part Maori, medium build with tattoos on both arms. He was wearing black pants and a black hoodie.
Police are interested in hearing from any persons who may have seen or spoken to either of these persons in the grounds of North Hagley Park or around the vicinity of Christchurch Hospital.
With daylight hours getting longer and more people taking advantage of the warmer weather Police would like to remind people to always consider their safety when out and about. Stick to well-lit areas and routes that are well used.
Anyone with information is asked to call Christchurch Police Station on 03 3637400 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or at www.crimestoppers-nz.org.
