"State Highway 2 near Whakamarama closed"

State Highway 2 near Whakamarama remains closed following a crash earlier this afternoon.

Traffic is building up and there may be significant delays, particularly for motorists heading north.

It is not yet known how long the road will remain closed for.

A diversion is in place at Barrett Road.
