Time to register for A Merry Movie Christmas—Upper Hutt’s 2016 Santa Parade!
Upper Hutt community groups and businesses are invited to register their float entries for the 2016 Upper Hutt Santa Parade via the Upper Hutt City Council website.
UPPER HUTT, Wellington NZ, 17 OCT 2016—The time has come to register for Upper Hutt’s ‘A Merry Movie Christmas’Santa Parade! Last year we saw 5,000 people turn out for this much-loved and growing community event.
This year be delighted by a giant Rudolf the Reindeer as he marches down Main Street along with entertainers, bands and an array of floats. We’re inviting all businesses and community groups operating in Upper Hutt to join the 2016 Upper Hutt Santa Parade. Your float could be themed as a classic Christmas film, or a modern interpretation of how a non-Christmas movie might celebrate the occasion—the opportunities are endless!
There is a $1,000 prize for the float that best reflects the theme of a Merry Movie Christmas, and a $500 prize for People’s Choice Award, voted for on social media in the week following the parade.
The parade is set to take place on Sunday 4 December, commencing at 3.00 pm. Entering a float in the parade is free, but groups are required to register.
Further details and online registrations are available on Upper Hutt City Council’s website www.upperhuttcity.com/float-registration/
Join Santa after the Upper Hutt Santa Parade for A Hollywood Christmas at Expressions from 3.00 – 6.00 pm. Enter a silverscreen-inspired world filled with all the fun of the movies including live music, Christmas acts, crafts and other yuletide treats—and have your photo taken holding your Oscar with Santa.
The Upper Hutt Santa Parade is organised by Upper Hutt City Council and is promoted by the Upper Hutt Leader.
