Election results confirmed

Election results confirmed - no change from preliminary count

We've got the final, confirmed count from the local elections and the outcome has not changed from the preliminary result that has seen Sandra Goudie elected as our mayor.

In two close races, Rex Simpson stands as being elected to Council for Thames Ward and Brent Turner elected to the Tairua-Pauanui Community Board.

See the full, final result below.

Our incoming Council's first meeting is on Tuesday 25 October at 10am at the Thames War Memorial Civic Centre at 200 Mary Street, in Thames.

The Mayor, eight Councillors and 20 Community Board members from across the district will be sworn in.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Mayor hits the ground running

Incoming Mayor Goudie has been catching up with constituents, meeting key Council staff and attending events in the week since the 8 October election.

She is looking forward to bringing together a fresh mix of newly elected people with a range of experience and to enhancing the role of community boards within Council.

"So, folks, don't forget, my door and my mind are open. And if I forget... remind me! I want this to be a time we can all enjoy," says Mayor Sandra.
