TEDxWellingtonSalon to be held in Porirua
In a first for TEDxWellington, the next community salon will be held in Porirua, at Pātaka Art + Museum on Wednesday 2
November.
It’s an opportunity to host a TEDx salon event in a community that has never had one before, says TEDxWellington license
holder, DK.
“This is the first time a TEDxWellingtonSalon has been held outside of Wellington city. We’re excited to share smiles,
thoughts, hugs and ideas worth spreading across the Wellington region – starting with Porirua”.
Three previous Wellington TEDx speakers will be attending the Porirua salon to give updates and share their stories:
Flight Coffee’s co-founderNick Clark who spoke about ethical bean sourcing, Dan Khan who ran the first Lightning Lab startup incubator in the city, and the team behindGood Bitches Baking who will give an update on how they’re saving the world with cake.
This is the second TEDxWellingtonSalon of 2016, following the sold-out Wellington salon in July. The event is sponsored
by Porirua City Council,and is open to residents throughout the Wellington region.
TEDx salons are smaller, more intimate, community events, with more opportunities for conversation and interaction
between the audience and speakers.
Following TED rules, only 100 tickets will be available, and the Porirua salon is expected to sell out – continuing the
trend of previous TEDxWellington events and salons, all of which have sold out.

The 2017 TEDxWellington event will be held on Saturday 27 May at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and will be
the largest TEDx event ever held in the capital.
