Police can now confirm the name of the man who was found dead in a vehicle in Otangarei on Tuesday evening.
He was Moses Noor Mahanga, aged 25 of Whangarei.
Moses was formerly from Waiomio.
A post-mortem has confirmed that he died as a result of a gunshot wound.
The investigation team is continuing to investigate the incident and is asking for any sightings of the vehicle Moses was using in the Whangarei area on Tuesday 4 October 2016.
The vehicle is a 2010 white Mitsubishi Lancer, with distinctive black mag wheels.
Police are also requesting that anybody who has not already been spoken to in the William Jones Drive and Taraire Crescent areas to contact them.
We are following positive lines of enquiry after receiving a number of calls from the Northland community.
