JOHNNY OVERTON'S MAYORAL CAMPAIGN IS OVER, BUT HIS LOCALALISTION PARTY WORK IS JUST BEGINNING
The end result of thirty years of neo-liberal globalisation, which has had a devastating effect on our society,
environment & nation, is that we’re now totally dependent on the rest of the world for our survival. The danger is that when this
unsustainable global matrix begins to unravel, it will have devastating consequences for our way of life & the wellbeing of our people. As I see it, our only hope of surviving the mayhem to come is to abandon globalisation & get behind radical localisation - shake off our dependence on the rest of the world & regain control of our destiny. In today’s green washed business as usual world, undertaking this course of action will
require nothing short of growing a revolutionary localisation movement armed with a revitalising future proofing vision, & a stage by stage realisation plan. So to get the ball rolling, I decided to enter the Wellington mayoralty race & drum up some support for the recently formed Localisation Party. The big picture aims of this party are to bring down
the neo-liberal establishment, bring about the formation of a government committed to localisation & radical future proofing, & liberate our country from corporate interests & foreign ownership & control. Then we could take steps towards establishing a sustainable, largely self-sufficient, NZ confederacy of
autonomous cities & regions. This resilient, newly minted nation would ensure our long term survival & wellbeing, while functioning as an exemplary blueprint for a post-globalisation world. I believe that making this
transition from the tired old to the trail blazing new, is not only our nations true destiny, but our duty to humanity & the planet that sustains us.
