Hutt Valley Police investigate two serious assaults overnight
Hutt Valley Police are investigating two serious assaults which occurred overnight.
The assaults are not related.
In the first incident, a 42-year-old man was stabbed at an address on Oxford Terrace, Avalon, at around 7.30pm.
It is thought to be the result of an argument between associates.
The victim has been admitted to Wellington Hospital with a number of stab wounds.
He is in a serious, but stable, condition.
A 38-year-old woman was arrested and appeared in the Hutt Valley District Court this morning.
Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter, however, request anyone who may have witnessed or heard
the incident to come forward.
In the second incident, a 36-year-old man was seriously assaulted at an address on Delaney Drive, Stokes Valley.
He has been admitted to Wellington Hospital with serious head injuries and remains in a serious condition.
Police are following positive lines of inquiry in this case and are seeking a white vehicle that was seen leaving the
area around the time of the assault.
They ask anyone who saw this vehicle, or may have seen or heard the altercation to come forward.
In both of these cases it appears the offenders are known to the victims and Police hope for positive resolutions in
both cases in the near future.
Police would also like to advise the community that these appear to be isolated incidents and there is no need for the
public to fear for their safety.
