Women of Achievement recognised at a Suffrage Day High Tea

At a High Tea in the Khandallah Village Hall, Rayoni Keith, President of the Zonta Club of Wellington presented four
“Zonta 50 Women of Achievement” certificates to recognise their contributions to improving the lives of women –
Professor Emerita Jean Fleming and Beverley Shore Bennett from Waikanae and Heather Henere, and Celia Wade Brown from
Wellington. The awards mark this year’s 50th anniversary of Zonta Clubs in New Zealand.
Rayoni went on to say, “New Zealand is full of selfless, courageous women and in this anniversary year, Zonta has given
special recognition to 50 of these women - “Women of Achievement”- women who have worked hard to focus their passion,
drive and valuable time into pursuing a better place for us to live.”
“The Wellington Club is delighted and proud to have 11 of the Club’s nominees selected and most of these women are here
this afternoon, along with another recipient Louise Nicholas. The Achievers were selected by a judging panel of
accomplished women, none of whom are Zontians, recognising their courage and perseverance in the face of some of the
most serious issues facing women today.
“These Awards presented a fantastic opportunity to recognise the inspirational women in our lives and to celebrate their
contribution to making a difference to the lives of women and girls.”
