"Lewis Pass Road closed due to crash"
Lewis Pass Road is closed until further notice, due to a crash between Rogers Crescent and Hanmer Springs Road.
A car has run into a power pole, west of Shelly Creek Bridge, leaving the driver and passenger with moderate to serious
injuries.
The injuries are not thought to be life threatening and both patients are being transported to hospital by helicopter.
The pole is blocking the road and significant delays are expected.
Police ask motorists to avoid the area or delay travel if possible.
Contractors are working to clear the road and thank motorists for their patience.
