"Waitemata Police attend serious crash in Warkworth "

Waitemata Police are attending a serious crash on State Highway 1 in Warkworth, north of Auckland, south of Valerie Close.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 3pm, where a southbound vehicle and a northbound vehicle have collided.

One person is trapped and in a critical condition.

Another person has serious injuries and two other people are moderately injured.

The road is closed in both directions between Woodcocks Road and Puhoi Road.

The road is also closed at Silverdale but diversions are in place.

Traffic in the area is heavy and weather conditions are poor, so motorists are asked to avoid unnecessary travel and to keep speeds down.

The Serious Crash Unit are at the scene.
