Salisbury Road a No-Go Zone for Vehicle Sales
A ban on displaying ‘for sale’ signs on cars parked on Richmond’s Salisbury Road will come into force in November.
The ban is among several changes to parking restrictions on the street, prompted by concerns from schools about the
safety and visibility of students being picked up and dropped off on the busy thoroughfare, as well as the availability
of parking for the general public and school communities.
The Council will be keeping an eye on how the public responds, to make sure the problem doesn’t shift elsewhere.
Other changes to parking restrictions will also be implemented by the Tasman District Council from 1 November 2016
including:
· New short-term parking spaces (2 minutes) outside Waimea College and Waimea Intermediate to make it easier for parents
to drop-off/pick-up their children without driving into the school grounds.
· P180 time-restricted spaces on Stephens Bay Road, Kaiteriteri near the beach to ensure these spaces are available for
families using the beach, instead of being occupied by boat trailers.
· Ban on overnight parking within the Motueka’s Saltwater Baths Carpark to discourage freedom camping in this location.
