Community connect event at Te Houhanga Marae, Dargaville
It’s all about making connections on Thursday 29 September, when residents can catch up with government agencies and Council staff for problem-solving and information gathering, as well as simply catching up with others in the community.
The open afternoon and evening will see the Northland Regional Council, Department of Conservation, Te Ha Oranga, Sport Northland, Te Puni Kokiri, Kaipara Abuse Prevention, SOS, ACC, WINZ and New Zealand Police representatives in one spot to answer questions.
“This can be as varied as finding out how to get rid of weeds and pests, to figuring out benefits or job seeking,” Kaipara District Council community facilitator Darlene Lang Gent says.
“This is also about giving people the opportunity to visit and connect with their local marae, as well as a way for us to talk with and develop stronger relationships with the community.”
“It is often difficult for people to get to government department offices, and this is one way for us to make it easier for them, and for us as well, to find out the issues and questions being raised and discussed within the community,” Ms Lang Gent says.
The event starts at 3.00pm and finishes at 6.00pm, at the Te Houhanga Marae, Station Road, Dargaville on Thursday 29 September 2016.
