Chamber
congratulates top Victoria researchers, teachers
Wellington Chamber of Commerce congratulates the eight researchers and teachers from Victoria University who were presented with Staff Excellence Awards at Parliament last night.
Chamber Chief Executive John Milford said the city should be proud to be home to people who were doing such top-class research, teaching and public engagement work.
“This is a further example of the type of people we are producing and who are working out of our tertiary institutions.
“Yesterday we applauded a bright young man from Scots College who is soon to start on his career, and here we have others who are making waves in theirs.
“I’m told each of the researchers is a world leader in their discipline, exploring some of the most pressing issues facing today’s societies, while those who received teaching and engagement awards did so as specialists in their fields who help inspire, inform, and stimulate debate.
“These people represent the best of what a top-class education sector can produce, and we must continue to support it.”
