The very distinctive voice and the contagious energy of Australian narrator, Stig Wemyss will be on show in Ōpōtiki later this month.
Stig Wemyss is well-known for his wildly entertaining performances and his narration of children's books (particularly Andy Griffiths and Paul Jennings titles).
He is on a whistlestop tour of New Zealand doing daytime performances for school children in Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown, Wellington, Palmerston North and Rotorua. He has agreed to just one evening show right here in Ōpōtiki to help fundraise for Te Tahuhu ō Te Rangi.
Ōpōtiki Library Manager, Jo Hunt said that the benefits of audiobooks are well-known and narrators like Stig Wemyss capture the energy of the authors’ words and hook children to books in an easy-to-digest format.
“Audio books can be borrowed though the library using the Bolinda digital APP BorrowBox. Audiobooks are really taking off as people discover that they are a powerful hook into the world of literature. Narrators like Stig just grab you with both hands and drag you into the story and we are lucky to have him in town.
“Due to incredible demand, Stig is doing two back-toback performances in the afternoon giving every primary school-aged child in the Ōpōtiki District an opportunity to come. But we asked him to stick around before he flies out of the country and do a later show as well.
“If you haven’t seen his material online, check him out and buy a ticket to the show. It will be great for all ages. Tickets are just $10 and all proceeds go to fundraising for Te Tāhuhu,” Ms Hunt said.
The show, proudly sponsored by OPAC, will be held at the Ōpōtiki De Luxe Theatre on Thursday 15 September. Tickets available from the iSite, Ōpōtiki District Library and Ōpōtiki District Council.
