TE KUITI CELEBRATES WITH AASF 10 CENTS PER LITRE DISCOUNT
BP 2go service station owners Neil and Arlene Kelland couldn’t stop smiling as they celebrated their site re-opening
today.
After being closed for 10 weeks for a complete rebuild, the newly expanded offer has been met with huge enthusiasm from
locals, truckies and holidaymakers travelling between Auckland, Taranaki and Tongariro National Park.
Kelland says the new offer was developed specifically with their customers in mind.
The 24-hour operation now includes a diner-style food offer, barista-made coffee, ample seating and free WIFI.
“We want our customers to take a load off and stay with us for a while, so that’s why we choose to serve our coffee in
real cups, but we’re ok with it if they want to hit the road quickly, of course,” he says.
The expanded outdoor area offers unleaded 91, premium 95, Ultimate 98 and Ultimate Diesel and includes a carwash and a
separate truckstop with Ad Blue.
The Kelland’s green BP awnings in Te Kuiti and Taumarunui have become well-known to locals, with the couple living and
operating in the area for more than 20 years.
“When you’ve been around as long as we have, you get to know your customers and the community really well – we see
ourselves as more than just another service station in the area, we’re locals too and we care about what happens here,”
Kelland says.
“Our rebuild is designed to not only meet our customers’ needs but it also supports the area’s long-term development.
“We’ve got a much bigger operation now, so along with the 14 team members we employ at Taumarunui, we’ve also got
another 19 fantastic local people working at our newly expanded Te Kuiti store.
“Having great people and top customer service is really important and we’re pleased to say we’ve got that in spades!
“Our staff are as much a part of the community as our customers who walk through our doors every day,” he says.
BP NZ Dealer Manager Struan Reid says BP’s independent dealer partners are a really important part of BP’s operations in
New Zealand.
“Having a long-standing partnership like this is really special – the Kelland’s are a key part of the Te Kuiti community
and we’re thrilled that we can be a part of that too,” Reid says.
Even Surf Lifeguards got in on the action, with volunteers from Tauranga travelling more than 150km to help out on the
forecourt and raise funds for their region.
Surf Life Saving New Zealand Eastern Region Manager Chris Emmett says BP has partnered with Surf Life Saving NZ for 48
years “and that’s a pretty huge commitment to our organisation and clubs across New Zealand”.
“We made the long trip down this morning because we wanted to show our commitment to them too.
“And try their coffee…we heard it’s really good!”
Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) CEO Paul Dalton says it’s great to see Clubs continuing to establish local
relationships with BP stores in their communities.
“Our Clubs are run by volunteers and they are heavily reliant on donations – celebrations like this enable BP’s regional
operators to link in with our Surf Life Saving Clubs and strengthen local relationships,” Dalton says.
To celebrate, customers will be able to save 10 cents per litre when they spend $40 or more on fuel at BP 2go Te Kuiti
on Friday 9 September 2016. They can choose to accumulate or redeem instantly on up to 50 litres of fuel.
