Tsunami threat cancelled
Ministry of Civil Defence Emergency Management (MCDEM) advises the tsunami threat is cancelled across North Coast Regions (East) of the North Island of New Zealand.
Based on all available data, the greatest tsunami activity has now passed. However, the East Coast may still experience unusual, strong currents and sea level fluctuations lasting for several more hours.
Auckland Civil Defence activated its Emergency Control Centre earlier this morning following the 7.0 earthquake of East Cape this morning.
