Statement From Te Rūnanga-Ā-Iwi O Ngāpuhi Board of Trustees
Te Rūnanga-Ā-Iwi O Ngāpuhi Board has met to give consideration to the role of its Chairman, Raniera Tau, following his sentencing by the Invercargill Court on 11 August 2016. Mr Tau has been on leave since October 2015.
The Board has decided to extend Mr Tau’s leave for a further six months. This will allow the completion of his three month community detention sentence, and after that a smooth transition for the incoming Chief Executive, who takes up the position on 2 November 2016.
Acting Chair, Carol Dodd, said the Board had put the interests of Ngāpuhi first, as it did in all matters.
Following the six month period of leave, the Board will again assess the situation regarding Mr Tau’s role within the organisation.
