Prison staff find drugs on visitor at Spring Hill Corrections Facility
Staff at Spring Hill Corrections Facility foiled the plans of one visitor who was found to have 24 ‘tinnies’ in his
possession.
The drugs were found when the Site Emergency Response Team conducted a search at a prison checkpoint in the visitors
carpark Wednesday 24 August.
The visitor, who was on-site to pick up a prisoner who was being released, had almost 24 grams of cannabis in a plastic
container in a pocket of his trousers. He was arrested and Police were called to take the man away and confiscate the
drugs.
Prison Director Chris Lightbown was pleased with the actions of staff:
“After noticing a bulge in the man’s waistband they asked him to turn out his pockets where they found the contraband.
They then conducted a further rub down where nothing else was found. It’s all in a day’s work for these guys but they
certainly do a great job.”
Corrections works hard to keep contraband out of prisons to ensure safety and security of the prisoners, staff and
public.
