Shore Action Selects Additional Kaipātiki Local Board Candidates
Shore Action is proud to welcome Lisa Ducat and Paula Gillon to the team. Lisa and Paula will be contesting the Kaipātiki Local Board seats at the Auckland Council election as part
of the Shore Action team.
Lisa Ducat
Lisa Ducat has lived and rented in Beach Haven for over 20 years. She is married, and both her children were born on the
Shore and attended local schools. She is a Mental Health Promoter, and has worked for not-for-profits for the majority
of her career. She knows how to focus on delivering successful outcomes with limited resources. In addition to her work,
Lisa is studying towards a Bachelor of Social Work with an emphasis on social policy.
Lisa strongly believes that communities that participate in local decision-making make better choices. As a Local Board
member, Lisa will explore new ways to repair the disconnect with Council, and ensure that communities are consulted and
kept informed about local projects and activities.
Lisa also believes that we need to retain and enhance our shared public spaces and support our local community groups
and placemaking groups.
“I think connected communities, where people know each other and have opportunities to work together, are what create
the neighbourhoods we want to live in,” said Lisa Ducat.
Paula Gillon
Paula Gillon is a current member of the Birkenhead Licensing Trust and former North Shore City Councillor and Birkenhead
Northcote Community Board member. Paula has a particular interest in improving public transport, enhancing youth
facilities and keeping our community safe.
As a new mother and secondary school teacher, Paula has a strong focus on ensuring that our community remains a great
place to live and family friendly. She supports improving our playgrounds, increasing nature-play and installing
shadesails to protect children.
Paula also believes that it is incredibly important to improve public transport frequency and affordability, as well as
enhancing our local walking and cycling connections.
"Keeping our community safe for everyone is extremely important,” said Paula Gillon. “As a Local Board Member I would
make this a priority and work towards strengthening our community groups, improving lighting and working to help combat
teen boredom through improving facilities for our young people.”
