Appointments made for business case stage of Dunedin Hospital redevelopment
The Southern Partnership Group (SPG) has appointed Jacobs in partnership with CCM Architects and Johnstaff to undertake
hospital services planning work needed to inform the development of an Indicative Business Case for the redevelopment of
Dunedin Hospital.
The trio submitted a consortium bid and were selected following a competitive RFP process.
Jacobs and Johnstaff will provide hospital services planning and CCM Architects will translate these into architectural
sketches for the Indicative Business Case.
“The three will work closely with us and Southern DHB’s clinicians, management, and other stakeholders, such as iwi, to
provide advice on the models of care and options for the redevelopment,” Chair of the Southern Partnership Group Andrew
Blair says.
“The three have extensive expertise in health planning, architecture, design and project management. Between them they
have worked on projects including the new Grey Base Hospital, Christchurch Outpatients facility, as well as a number of
large hospital redevelopments in Australia.”
SPG has also appointed Sapere to produce the Indicative Business Case, which will provide a shortlist of options for the
redevelopment of Dunedin Hospital, by mid-next year.
“We are working to an ambitious timeframe, so having the architectural health planners and business case writer lined up
and ready to go ensures there won’t be a delay between the Strategic Assessment phase winding down and the Business Case
phase winding up,” Mr Blair says.
Mr Blair was also in Dunedin in late July to meet with local stakeholders including Southern DHB’s executive team and
local media.
“I’m pleased to have heard robust feedback on the Strategic Services Plan released in mid-July, as it means stakeholders
are engaged and committed to helping us deliver enduring hospital services for the Southern region.”
This month the Capital Investment Committee reviewed the Strategic Assessment, which sets out the case for change and
outlines the need to invest in infrastructure at Dunedin Hospital. The document will be released publicly once
considered by Ministers.
