Shared operating ethos sees Destination Rotorua and Waiariki Bay of Plenty Polytechnic sign MoU
This morning [Friday, 29 July] Waiariki Bay of Plenty Polytechnic (WBoPP) and Destination Rotorua signed a Memorandum of Understanding, acknowledging a shared operating ethos that they will be successful if they help others become successful.
WBoPP chairperson Cathy Cooney says the purpose of the MoU is to form a partnership between the organisations where there is agreement to cooperate and work together.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for us to work alongside Destination Rotorua on activities that will help both organisations deliver benefits to Rotorua that are consistent with their organisational objectives.”
Some of the joint activities will include identifying workforce and skill gaps needed to grow the Rotorua economy into the future; the development and maintenance of pathways for students – whether secondary school or tertiary – through to employment; and working together in terms of talent attraction and encouraging new industries or businesses to invest in Rotorua.
Destination Rotorua chairman Peter Stubbs says that this strategic partnership with WBoPP is crucial for the continued growth and prosperity of Rotorua and the wider region.
“Waiariki Bay of Plenty Polytechnic has a growing footprint and excellent reputation across the region and we look forward to working with them and our local industry partners as we seek to upskill, develop and enhance our destination in the areas of tourism, investment, and business/talent attraction” says Mr Stubbs.
