Local body nominations open today
Horizons Regional Council is calling for people to stand for council from Friday 15 July until 12 noon Friday 12 August.
Local body elections are held every three years and Horizons Regional Council comprises six constituencies which are represented by 12 councillors; two from Horowhenua-Kairanga, four from Palmerston North, one from Tararua, two from Manawatu -Rangitikei, two from Wanganui and one from Ruapehu.
Horizons electoral officer Craig Grant says being part of Horizons Regional Council provides the opportunity for people to determine how our communities are governed.
“If you’re passionate about making our Region a great place to live, work and play, and want to have your say as to how this happens, consider standing for council,” he says.

Election day is Saturday 8 October 2013.
