Recycling service change

4 July, 2016

Recycling service change

A new recycling service –that impacts more than 210,000 residents in Rodney, Hibiscus Coast, Waitakere and North Shore started on 1 July.

We’re delighted to see that many residents have started using their new bins, but participation rates could be higher. We ask for your help in sharing the following message with your audience to ensure a smooth transition.

· Please use your new 240 litre recycling bin for recycling. Recycling put out in crates/smaller wheelie bins will not be collected.

· Do you know your collection day? It may have changed. Check the calendar that was attached to the new bin, or free text the address to 3169 for a text reminder service.

· Paper and cardboard can go in the new bin – no need to put them out separately.

· If you live in Waitakere and the North Shore please don’t use the old bin for rubbish yet. The new subscription rubbish service begins in early 2017. Please note: The council does not currently provide a rubbish collection service in Rodney and the Hibiscus Coast.

· Auckland Council is working with those residents who have missed this messaging through face-to-face communication, where possible, and placing tags on bins.
