Bumper weekend of events across Auckland
Make the most of the beautiful weather this weekend and embrace the best that the city has to offer. Regional Facilities
Auckland (RFA) has an exciting programme of sports, art and culture, theatre, and family-friendly events to suit every
taste.
More than 13,000 visitors are expected to come into Auckland Live venues to enjoy a vibrant mix of entertainment
including performances by Nederlands Dans Theater, one of the world’s leading contemporary dance companies at The Civic, Silo’sMedea at the Herald Theatre, the Laughing Samoans at Aotea Centre, and Auckland Symphony Orchestra’s Last Night of the Proms on at Auckland Town Hall and the Bruce Mason Centre. Families can enjoy Auckland Live’s Pick & Mix free family-friendly events at Aotea Centre and the Bruce Mason Centre, while the Square will be buzzing with Aotea Square Ice Rink and Ice Slide. Down at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre, Our House’s Deep Hard n’ Funky winter music festival will see a crowd of 3,000 at the waterfront.
While in the city, take a walk to Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki and see Space to Dream: Recent Art from South America – the first major exhibition of South American art in Australasia. Just a short bus ride away is Auckland Zoo, where
visitors can enjoy the new African Savannah, or help name one of two new capybara pups.
Further afield in Mt Smart Stadium, Vodafone Warriors fans can look forward to the match against the Gold Coast Titans
on Saturday. The match marks the Warriors’ 250th home game at the stadium since it became the club’s base in 1995. It
also marks Warriors captain Simon Mannering’s 250th NRL appearance – he is only the second player to have reached this
milestone after rugby league great Stacey Jones.
RFA Acting Chief Executive Paul Brewer says that the weekend’s eclectic programming shows the wealth of experiences that
Auckland has to offer.
