SCIRT Traffic Update for the week starting Monday 4 July 2016
Central City
• SCIRT works start on Monday 4 July on the twin bridges on Fitzgerald Ave for about 3 months.
• Two-way traffic is maintained but watch for traffic management. Pedestrian can access the bridge.
• SCIRT is replacing a wastewater pipe running alongside the bridge, resurfacing the road approach to the bridge and repairing kerb, channels and footpaths.
• Moorhouse Ave, between Antigua St and Stewart St, going west is reduced to 2 lanes from 3 lanes for wastewater works which will continue this week. Antigua St is closed to northbound traffic south of the intersection with Moorhouse
St Albans
• The intersection of Westminister St, Roosevelt St and Courtenay St will be closed for 10 weeks while an intersection upgrade is carried out including removal of the roundabout. Please use Cranford St, Innes Rd and Rutland St to detour around the worksite.
• Westminster St is one-way eastbound between Kensington Ave and Fergusson Ave for a week for wastewater repairs.
• From early July, Warrington St will be one-way heading east for road repairs for 2 weeks. Westbound traffic will be detoured to Edward Ave.
• During the first stage of work, the intersections of Warrington St and Geraldine St and Warrington and Barbadoes St will be closed. Please support local businesses.
• The following week the intersections of Warrington St and Frances Ave and Warrington St and Flockton St will be closed.
• Edgeware Rd, between Hills Rd and Geraldine St, is one-way for wastewater repairs until mid-July. Traffic going west from Hills Rd is being detoured into Edward Ave and Barbadoes St.
Merivale
• From Monday 4 July SCIRT is working at the western end of Aikmans Rd which will be in part one-way eastbound while wastewater repairs take place over 4-6 weeks.
• The work is near Elmwood Normal School. It is part of several months of repairs to a large damaged wastewater pipe called the Wairakei Collector.
• For westbound traffic on Aikmans Rd the detour is Akela Street, Cox St, Sterling St and Office Rd.
Avonside/Linwood
• Gloucester St will be one-way heading south between Dallington Tce and Woodham Rd. Northbound traffic will be detoured on Ngarimu St and Avonside Drive.
• Woodham Rd is closed at the intersection with Worcester St for 4 more months for major wastewater repairs.
• Carnarvon St at the intersection with Woodham Rd will be closed from as early as Monday 27 June for 8 weeks for wastewater repairs.
• Access to Woodham Rd, east of Worcester St, will be via Sewell St and Rowcliffe Crescent.
• Eastbound traffic on Woodham Rd will be diverted via Ngarimu St.
• A “no entry” sign is in place in Woodham Rd at Kerrs Rd and at Ngarimu St.
• The large wastewater main trunk, called the Southern Relief, is being repaired.
Richmond
• North Avon Rd is closed between North Parade and Flesher Ave for wastewater works. The detour will be North Parade, Medway St to River Road. The work will take another two months.
Woolston
• Bamford St will be one way southbound between Jubilee St and Broad St for about 5 weeks for wastewater repairs.
Bromley
• On Dyers Road wastewater repairs started on Monday 20 June for about 14 weeks. Two-way traffic will be maintained but expect delays. The work is between Ruru Rd and Maces Rd..
• There are no right turns across the worksite and also from Dyers Rd into Ruru Rd and Francella St.
• There is no exit from Francella onto Dyers Rd for about 3 weeks.
• And there are no right hand turns out of Ruru Rd onto Dyers Rd.
Hoon Hay
• From Friday 1 July Sparks Rd will be one-way heading to Halswell, between Hoon Hay Rd and Maryhill Ave, for about 4 weeks, while SCIRT repairs part of the road. Detours will be in place via Maryhill Ave and Hoon Hay Rd. Stop/Go traffic management will be in front of Hoon Hay school.
Aranui -Wainoni
• This area has several road closures. Please take care. SCIRT is installing a new more earthquake-resilient vacuum wastewater system. See the Aranui map for road closures, bus routes and detours.
• Kerb, channels and footpath repairs have started on Pages Rd between Shuttle Drive (Cowles Stadium) and Portchester St and will take about 6 weeks. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
• Breezes Rd, between 237 and Gosport St, is one-way northbound until late August. This section is between Pages Rd and Wainoni Rd.
• Breezes Rd is one-way eastbound between Pages Rd and Cuthberts Rd. The detour is Cuthberts Rd, Nugent St, Shortland St, Pages Rd.
• Shortland St is one-way between Carters and Lenton St heading north to Pages Rd until 17 July.
• Carters Rd is closed from Breezes Rd until 10 July at which stage Shortland will be closed at the Breezes Rd end for a week.
Redcliffs
• SCIRT is working on Main Rd in Moncks Bay for 3 months from Monday 4 July repairing an earthquake-damaged culvert.
• Two-way traffic will be maintained with lane shifts past the work site.
New Brighton/Burwood
• New Brighton Rd is closed between Anzac Dr and Wainoni Rd while the road is rebuilt.
• SCIRT has started decommissioning now redundant wastewater pipes in New Brighton Rd, Lake Terrace Rd and Baker St. The work with take about a month. Two-way traffic is maintained.
• Travis Rd, near the shopping centre and the BP, has road repairs for 3 weeks with two-way traffic maintained through lane shifts.
• Travis Rd, between Blue Gum Place and Atlantis St, is closed for SCIRT wastewater, storm water and road repairs which will take about 2 months. Traffic is diverted around the site using the former QE11 slip road.
Port Hills/Lyttelton/Governors Bay
• On Mt Pleasant Rd kerb, channel, footpath and carriageway repairs are taking place between 156 -174. The road is one-way for downhill traffic and uphill traffic is detoured via Billys Track, Major Hornbrook Rd and Bellview Tce until 7 July.
• Godley Quay, Lyttelton, between Cyrus Williams Quay and Voelas Rd is down to one lane to replace an earthquake-damaged water main. Traffic is being maintained in both directions with temporary traffic lights. The repairs will take about 3 months.
• Governors Bay Rd is reduced to one lane on the Lyttelton side of the intersection with Dyers Pass Rd, while SCIRT lays a new water main. Two-way traffic will be maintained with Stop/Go temporary traffic lights.
Parklands
• Beach Road, between Britannia St and Aston Drive, is one-way for westbound traffic for about 1 more week. Beach Café’s best access is from Marine Parade and Broadpark Road.
• Mairehau Rd will have shoulder closures in the next week. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
• Flemington Ave is closed until the end of July. Please use Pinewood Ave.
• The Bower Ave and Broadhaven Ave roundabout intersection is closed. Traffic lights will maintain two-way traffic along Bower Ave until August.
• Queenspark Drive is now open between Brentwood St and Chadlington St for two-way traffic.
• Donnington St will be closed until the end of July for road resurfacing.
