The Adam Art Gallery is pleased to announce the commencement of the 2016 Art History in Practice seminar series. This second series, presented in partnership with the Victoria University of Wellington Art History Programme, showcases current art historical research by established and emerging art historians and curators, working inside and outside the academy.

Art History in Practice I: Vera Mey
Wednesday 29 June, 5.15pm
The Adam Art Gallery Te Pātaka Toi

To launch the series, independent curator and VUW Art History/ Museum and Heritage Studies alumna Vera Mey draws on case studies she researched for a paper delivered at the APT8 Conference in Brisbane, which focused on artists in Southeast Asia and their relationship to social change and artistic production. She discusses how she has developed this research, as co-curator of the SEA Project, into a project due to open in July 2017 at the Mori Art Museum and National Art Centre Tokyo, Japan.

Vera Mey recently worked as Curator, Residencies on the founding team of the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore, led by Ute Meta Bauer. She has been awarded a studentship to undertake a PhD at SOAS, University of London commencing in September 2016.
