Te Poho o Rawiri Marae Protection work on Titirangi
Council will be doing some drain
improvement and stability protection work which may cause
some noise and traffic inconvenience on the eastern side of
Titirangi Reserve (Kaiti Hill).
Public access via the Queens Drive and walking tracks will not be affected.
The work will involve excavation activities to improve and extend a stormwater drain to protect Te Poho o Rawiri Marae and several Cambridge Terrace properties from stormwater drainage issues. Two earth bunds will also be formed as part of the work to protect the Marae from land stability risks.
“The location has been identified as an area where drain improvement work needs to occur to protect downstream properties” says stormwater team leader Joss Ruifrok. “The land stability measures will also give greater protection to the new Marae currently under construction”.
Improvement works are expected to take around three weeks depending on weather.
Current Improvement to utilities and infrastructure on Titirangi coincides with other restoration and improvement work Council are doing.
Titirangi Reserve is currently seeking public submissions about its reserve management plan. The management plan provides a strategic framework for future development and restoration work.
