DCC Group Chief Financial Officer takes on new
role
Dunedin (Friday, 10 June 2016) – Dunedin City Council Group Chief Financial Officer Grant McKenzie has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of a well-known Dunedin company, the Allied Press Limited.
DCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Sue Bidrose says Mr McKenzie has made a huge difference to the DCC in the two and a half years he has been here. Mr McKenzie came to the DCC in January 2014 from the role of Financial Services Director at the University of Otago.
Mr McKenzie has made a major contribution to the organisation, from delivering millions of dollars of budget savings to implementing a new management structure of the Council owned companies to improving our internal financial processes.
Dr Bidrose says he has been an outstanding GCFO.
“We are all very sorry to see him go. However, it is a fantastic opportunity and I am pleased that after watching him go from strength to strength within this organisation that he leaves on to take on the challenges of a chief executive role.
“Mr McKenzie is a man of high integrity and personal values and will provide strong leadership at Allied Press.”
Mayor Dave Cull says he has hugely changed thinking around financial ownership, accountability and stewardship since his arrival.
“We have saved millions of dollars in debt repayment under Mr McKenzie’s financial leadership and I thank him for his work in fine tuning the DCCs finances. But on behalf of elected members and staff, I wish Mr McKenzie all the very best in his new role
Mr McKenzie says while he has enjoyed his time at the DCC and the challenges the role presented, his new position as chief executive is a great opportunity for him and his family.
It is yet to be confirmed when Mr McKenzie will take up his new post.
