15-year old suffers Cardiac Arrest, Te Kuiti

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched Te Kuiti this morning, to retrieve a 15-year old boy who arrested at his home. The local first-response team were actively engaged in CPR and an Automated External Defribillator (AED) had been utilized by the time the Rescue Helicopter was able to transport an Intensive Care Paramedic crew from Hamilton. In order to mitigate the delay, the helicopter landed at the scene initially, to deposit the crew, then re-located to Te Kuiti Hospital, where the patient was then intubated and stabilised before being flown to Waikato Hospital.

Philips Search and Rescue Trust (PSRT) is a charitable organisation, operating rescue helicopters throughout the Central North Island. Philips Search and Rescue Trust relies on support from principal sponsors and community donations. Special thanks to Waikato King Country’s principal sponsor, Westpac. This crucial financial support ensures our rescue helicopters can continue to bring life-saving equipment, rescue personnel and trauma-trained medics directly to the patient.
