Pop up Lumina Performance A Nice Surprise For Te Papa Visitors

Wellington, Thursday 19 May 2016: A captivated crowd of Te Papa visitors filled the museum foyer this morning for a surprise performance of The New Zealand Dance Company’s contemporary light, sound and movement showcase – ‘Lumina’.

The dancers and their creative collaborators touched down in Wellington today in preparation for their fourth showcase of Lumina on their North Island tour. The show has been well received overseas performing to sold out shows in Germany and at the prestigious Holland Dance Festival.

New Zealand Dance Company (NZDC) has partnered with Wellington-based charities for Saturday’s show at the Opera House. For each ticket bought to Lumina in Wellington, NZDC will match and donate tickets to participating Wellington charities such as Life Flight.

Life Flight is a charity that provides emergency air services, including the Wellington Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a nationwide air ambulance service. The 24/7 service gets patients the care they need quickly, dramatically improving their chance of survival and recovery.

Terri Rosenstock at Life Flight says, “We’re thankful for the opportunity to give our supporters and donors tickets to the internationally acclaimed Lumina show. It’s a wonderful opportunity to give back to those that help make our life-saving flights possible.”
