Economic alliance summit attracts top speakers
Next week’s
summit of the Tripartite Economic Alliance in Auckland has
attracted world-renowned speakers and panelists, as well as
600 business representatives, from the three cities.
In November 2014, the Mayors of Auckland, Guangzhou and Los Angeles signed the world-first Tripartite Economic Alliance agreement. The three cities aim to set a new standard for how modern cities can engage and collaborate in the 21st Century, and are already working together to enhance trade and economic relations.
Senior political representatives from all three countries – including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, President of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Madame Li Xiaolin, Guangzhou Vice Mayor Wang Dong, and New Zealand government ministers – will attend the two-day summit at the Viaduct Events Centre.
The Tripartite Economic Summit Auckland 2016 – on May 16 and 17 – brings together industry experts and global business leaders from a wide range of sectors.
Among the speakers is former Nike Innovation expert, Dr Erez Morag, founder of Acceler8 Performance. He will talk about how “innovation comes from cross pollination”. His current mission is to translate sport science knowledge into practical training solutions and high-speed decision making.
At Nike, after a successful run with product innovations, he founded programmes that linked product and business innovation. For example, Nike Football+ merged the physical and digital worlds and created football communities in more than 25 countries.
Professor Xue-Feng Yuan, PhD CPhys FInstP FRSC, has been Director of the National Supercomputer Centre in Guangzhou and Dean at Sun Yat-Sen University since January 2014. He has nearly 30 years of research experience in experimental, theoretical and computational rheology of soft condensed matter/complex fluids, which are applied in biology and medicine.
Jonas Hudson is an entertainment and new media entrepreneur who connects Hollywood studios, musicians and labels, gaming companies, Fortune 500 brands, and celebrity talent, and syndicates through disruptive distribution channels. In 2010, Mr Hudson co-founded CausePlay, LLC, which is a mobile solution for retailers.
“The fact the Auckland summit has attracted these and other highly respected international guests is good news for Auckland and its bright business future,” Len Brown says.
A feature of the Auckland summit is that visiting and local businesses are included, with significant emphasis on business matching, so all participants come out of the summit with connections and opportunities to expand.
Len Brown says the process provides an opportunity for companies to connect prior to the summit, to discuss potential opportunities and deals and allow them to hit the ground running during the event with crucial face-to face engagement.
