Centreport Welcomes Bonus Cruise Call

Centreport Welcomes Bonus Cruise Call

CentrePort is to host the maiden visit of the cruise ship, MS Insignia this weekend.

The unexpected late addition to Wellington’s 2016 cruise ship season, which officially ended in April, is a bonus for the Port.

Ms Insignia will berth at CentrePort’s international passenger terminal at approximately 8am on Sunday 15th May and will depart just before midnight that evening to sail to Picton.

Wellington was a late addition to the Insignia’s schedule, after adverse weather saw the cancellation of its planned visit to Hobart. The visit is the ship’s first New Zealand port call, after crossing the Tasman Sea from Sydney.

MS Insignia will be carrying up to 650 passengers and 370 crew, a ratio of more than 1 crew member for every passenger.

MS Insignia is registered in Majuro, Marshall Islands.

• Gross Tonnage: 30,277

• Beam: 83.5 feet

• Maximum Draught: 19.5 feet

• Cruising Speed: 18 knots

• Guest Decks: 9

• Total Decks: 11
