Work to improve safety of Kamo Bypass

Work to improve safety of Kamo Bypass

The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that it will be carrying out work on SH1 in Whangarei this weekend to create a safer journey through the Kamo Bypass.

One lane will be closed from 7pm Sunday 15 May until 4am Monday 16 May to allow contractors to lay a skid resistant road coating on the approaches to the railway line.

The surface will provide skid resistance in emergency stopping situations.

Stop/Go traffic control will be in place to allow traffic to move through the area.

The work is part of improvements to make the road safer and more resilient.

The NZ Transport Agency says motorists planning to use the area during the weekend should plan ahead and allow more time to get to your destination.

Check the NZ Transport Agency’s website: www.nzta.govt.nz for the latest highway information or sign up towww.onthemove.govt.nz for up-to-date information on what is happening on the route you plan to travel. For updates on road conditions and road works also visit our Facebook and Twitter sites
