update
The Wellington Regional Transport Response Team says heavy rainfall has affected parts of the transport network and is advising motorists to plan ahead.
WRTRT Chair, Mike Wright advises that a number of roads have had significant surface flooding and drivers are advised to take extra care. At this stage all train services are running, however some bus routes are affected in the Eastern Hutt and Porirua areas. Please check the MetLink website for latest information www.metlink.org.nz
Some schools in the Porirua area are looking at closing early. Please contact your local school to confirm closing times.
More rain is forecast over the next few hours, affecting the Kapiti Coast, Upper Hutt and the Tararua ranges, which could result in river levels rising.
Please check the NZ Transport Agency website www.nzta.govt.nz, Transport for Wellington websitewww.tfw.govt.nz, the @nztawgtn Twitter feed or nztawgtn Facebook page before traveling, as conditions are subject to change at short notice.
