City Service and City Project grant applications open
Dunedin (Monday, 2 May 2016) – Applications for Dunedin City Council's annual City Service and City Project Grants opened today.
DCC Acting Events and Community Development Manager Paul Coffey says, "This scheme makes funding available to social, arts, sports and recreation, environmental and heritage organisations and projects which make a significant contribution to the priorities of one or more of the DCC's key strategies."
Mr Coffey says the funding is for core operating costs of those key organisations and projects which help the city to achieve its strategic goals.
The City Service and City Project Grants scheme last year replaced Civic Grants, which were allocated during each year's Annual Plan deliberations.
In 2015, a total of $531,700 was awarded to 22 organisations.
A total of at least $531,700 will again be available in this funding round. In its Draft Annual Plan for 2016/17, Council has proposed raising this amount by $100,000 to $631,700.
Grants Subcommittee Chair Cr Jinty MacTavish says, "The City Project and City Service Grants make a crucial contribution to the not-for-profit sector of the city.
"This funding is for projects that play a key role, and organisations that play a key and unique role, in supporting the city to achieve its strategic goals and ultimately ensure Dunedin is one of the world’s great small cities."
Anyone wishing to apply for funding is encouraged to contact DCC's Events and Community Development Team in the first instance. Staff will be able to help with information about the DCC's strategic framework and how to apply. Staff can be contacted on 03 477 4000.
