Hastings Police seek information after home invasion incident

Hastings Police are asking for help identifying a man who broke into a home and assaulted a man in Longlands Road, Hastings this morning.

A couple aged in their seventies were woken at around 8.15am and confronted by the intruder inside their home.

The offender, described as in his late teens, broke a window to gain entry.

He assaulted the male occupant before leaving in a dark coloured sedan.

Detective John Brans of the Hawkes Bay CIB said the male occupant received minor injuries for which he received medical attention.

His wife was not injured.

“The couple are understandably shaken. They have been supported by family and victim support today after what was a traumatic incident.”

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw a man in his late teens acting suspiciously in or around the Longlands Road area this morning between 7am and 8.30am.
