Media Release
Ports of Auckland to Pause in Remembrance this ANZAC Day

The Waitematā Seaport will turn off over 1,000 lights this ANZAC Day
Ports of Auckland will again halt operations during the ANZAC Day dawn service between 6:00 and 6:40 on Monday, 26 April as a mark of respect and remembrance of those that fought in war.

The port has paused operations and turned off the Waitematā Seaport lights for the duration of the remembrance service every year for the last 16 years.

“Pausing to reflect and remember those who served our country in war has become tradition at our port. It is a small way for us to pay our respects” says Ports of Auckland Chief Executive Tony Gibson.

All primary lighting from Fergusson Container Terminal to Captain Cook Wharf will be turned off.
