Assault - Wellington
At 2.50pm on Monday the 4th of April a male approached a female not known to him on Lambton Quay and assaulted her, the assault had intimate overtones. Yesterday a 28 year old local Wellington man was charged with the assault and will appear in the Wellington District Court next week. Senior Sergeant Jason McCarthy said that the CCTV photograph provided to media early in the week led to the identity of the offender.
The investigator received two nominations which were positive and the offender himself also came forward to talk with police. I can reassure the community that police will thoroughly investigate offending of this nature.
I’d also like to thank those members of the community who assisted in identifying the offender which led to his arrest, Mr McCarthy said.
