Learn to take astronomically great photographs

2013 Astronomy Photographer of the Year, Mark Gee, will share his experiences of photographing the night sky and provide insight into his process at War Memorial Library.

As part of Global Astronomy Month, Mark will talk about the stories behind his images, including when things don’t go to plan. If the sky is clear, at the end of the talk Mark will head outside and answer technical questions on photographing the night sky to those who brought a DSLR camera and tripod. Telescopes will also be provided by the Wellington Astronomical Society.

The talk is free and takes place Friday 15 April starting at 6.30pmat War Memorial Library, Lower Hutt.

Mark was the overall winner and won the Earth and Space category of the 2013 Astronomy Photographer of the Year awards with his photo of the Milky Way arching over the coast at Cape Palliser on the southernmost tip of the North Island.
