Enspire youth video challenge winners will be announced at a public screening of finalist videos next Tuesday 19 April. The awards event will be held from5.00pm at the Tauranga Art Gallery.
“The aim of the competition was to encourage young people to share their views on environmental issues and create videos that inspire others to help care for local land, air, water and wildlife,” said Tauranga City Council Sustainability Advisor Michelle Elborn.
The competition was run jointly by Western Bay of Plenty District, Bay of Plenty Regional and Tauranga City Councils. Young people aged 12-24 were invited to submit a video that showed creativity and a call to action, in order to compete for cash prizes and a presentation spot at the TEDx Tauranga event in August.
At next week’s awards event, the top two videos across each of three categories will be screened and the winners announced. Guest speaker and TEDx Tauranga 2015 presenter Ellis Bryers will also present on the links between young people and the environment.
