SCIRT Traffic Update for the week starting Monday 28 March 2016
Moorhouse Avenue overbridge is closed overnight Wednesday 30 March.
· The overbridge will be closed from 7pm to 6am for road resurfacing on Wednesday night. The side slip lanes will be
available for traffic going east and west.
Major wastewater repairs on Woodham Road for 7 months
After Easter from Tuesday 29 March Woodham Road, between Rowcliffe Crescent and Ngarimu St, will be one-way heading west
into the city for one week.
From Monday 4 April Woodham Rd will be closed at the intersection with Worcester St for about 7 months.
Access to Woodham Rd, east of Worcester St, will be via Sewell St, Carnarvon St and Rowcliffe Crescent.
Eastbound traffic on Woodham Rd will be diverted via Ngarimu St.
A “no entry” will be in place onto Woodham Rd from Kerrs Rd and from Ngarimu St.
Repairs are to the large wastewater main trunk, called the Southern Relief.
Barbadoes Street, St Albans,
· From Tuesday 29 March Barbadoes St is one-way southbound between Canon Street and Bealey Ave for about a month. For
northbound traffic the alternative route is Madras St, Canon St, Barbadoes St.
New Brighton Road
· New Brighton Rd will be closed from Wednesday 30 March, between Palmers Rd and Baker St, for two months. Extensive
wastewater repairs need to be undertaken with deep trenching.
· This work will be followed by storm water repairs and resurfacing the road. Take Pratt Street, Keyes Road and Bowhill
Road as the preferred detour.
· New Brighton Rd east is closed between Bassett St and Anzac Drive for the installation of 2 wastewater pressure mains.
The detour is via Bassett St, QEII Dr and Travis Rd.
Bower Avenue, Burwood, several restrictions
· From Tuesday 29 March for around 4 weeks Bower Ave will be one-way north bound between New Brighton Rd and Palmers Rd
for road repairs.A detour for southbound traffic is via Palmers Rd and New Brighton Rd.
· Bower Ave, between Beach Rd and Kristen Pl, has a progressive road closure until June 2016 for wastewater work.
· Bower Ave, between 516 Bower and Rue de la Mare, is one-way going south for 7 more weeks.
Beach Road, Parklands
· The progressive road closure on Beach Rd is now between Badger St and Pinewood Ave and will keep moving east towards
towards the Beach Rd shops. The work is expected to take 6 more weeks.
· The one-way system along Beach Rd, between Bower Ave and Effingham St, will remain eastbound. Please look out for
changed traffic management.
· The section outside the shops- Naked Baker, Beach Road Fish Supply and North Beach Dairy- is two-way and parking is
maintained.

Queenspark Drive, Parklands
· Queenspark Dr is one-way westbound between Bower Ave and Donnington St for 5 more weeks.
· Please continue to support the shops at the Parklands Mall while SCIRT works are underway.
Lyttelton Street, Spreydon, for 2 months
· From Monday 21 March SCIRT is repairing the wastewater main along Lyttelton St, between Cobham St and Edinburgh St for
about 2 months. Two-way traffic is maintained and there are signs and cones around work areas.
Linwood Avenue, Linwood
· Starting the week of Monday 21 March SCIRT is repairing wastewater laterals along Linwood Ave between Cranley St and
Thomas St for about 3 weeks. Two-way traffic will be maintained but there are lane shifts and shoulder closures.
Breezes Road, Aranui, progressive one-way for 5 months
· Breezes Rd is one- way between Rowses Road and Cuthberts Rd at present.
· The detour is along Cuthberts Rd to Nugent St to Shortland St and Rowses Rd back onto Breezes.
· Breezes Rd has a progressive one-way over 5 months from Pages Rd to Cuthberts Rd for storm water and roading work done
in 5 stages.
Aranui -Wainoni
· There are several road closures in this area. Please take care around these suburbs where SCIRT is installing a new
more earthquake-resilient vacuum wastewater system, and roading repairs are underway.

Woodham Road - Gloucester Street intersection, restrictions for another 6 weeks
· Major wastewater repairs mean lane reductions and turning restrictions at the intersection. Temporary traffic lights
are in place to help traffic flow.
· Please support your local businesses that are affected by this work.
Wainoni Road has become one-way for about 8 weeks
· The one-way is running between Breezes Rd and Hampshire St.
· City-bound commuters will be detoured onto Hampshire, Breezes and back on to Wainoni Rd. SCIRT is installing a
wastewater mainline in the road.
Governors Bay Road, Rapaki, restrictions for 3 months.
· Retaining wall repairs began on Monday 14 March outside property number 191. The westbound lane will be closed around
the work site but two-way traffic will be maintained using temporary traffic lights.
Ferry Road
· Storm water repairs on Ferry Rd are taking place between Manning Place and Hart Street.
Shirley Road, short detour
· Traffic going eastwards towards The Palms shopping centre is being detoured, because of culvert repairs at Stapletons
Rd. The detour is left into Emmett St, Orontes St and Quinns Rd back onto Shirley Rd.
Hills Road, between Warrington - Shirley intersection and Warden Street
· Two-way traffic is maintained, but expect delays as major work is underway for another week.
Worcester Street, Linwood
· Worcester St is closed between Woodham Rd and Dacre St with limited access to residents only. It remains one-way
southbound between Wyon St and Linwood Ave.
