AUCKLAND FUTURE SELECTS MARK BRICKELL AS WHAU CANDIDATE

Auckland Future, the new centre right ticket contesting the forthcoming Auckland Council elections, has selected Auckland principal and former Waitakere Ranges local board member Mark Brickell to contest the marginal Whau Ward.

He joins Auckland Future candidates Cr Denise Krum (Maungakiekie-Tamaki), Lisa Whyte (Albany), Christina Atoa-Tapu and Aminiasi Tamiefuna (Manukau) and Rob Harris (Albert-Eden-Roskill).

Campaign organizer, Sue Wood said that Mark brings a wealth of local knowledge and service to the West Auckland community over many years. He is currently a trustee of Foundation North (formerly ASB Community Trust) and is chairman of the Grants Committee.

A teacher by training, he is founder and principal of Vineyard College, Henderson which is an internet-based private training establishment (PTE) and pioneer of mentor assisted distance learning. The College has gained a high NZQA quality ranking (2009) and has graduated over 1000 students.

Mark is a graduate of Auckland and Otago universities and holds a Masters degree from St Stephens University, New Brunswick, Canada.
