Glenda Drive chemical incident final update
Glenda Drive chemical incident final update
A thorough inspection of the commercial laundry where a chemical incident occurred this morning has shown no trace of chlorine gas remaining, and the cordons have been lifted.
Neighbouring buildings have also been cleared and the occupants are allowed to return, Deputy Chief Fire Officer Andrew Bary from Queenstown said. There may be some delays for vehicles while the Fire Service clears the immediate scene.
Specialist monitoring equipment to detect chlorine gas was helicoptered from Dunedin to the scene of a chemical incident at a commercial laundry in Glenda Drive, Frankton.
St John says that one man was taken to Lakes District Hospital as a precaution, after two chemicals were inadvertently mixed at the laundry.
