Auckland Transport to take down Generation Zero posters
At a meeting today Auckland Transport told Generation Zero hundreds of posters the group has put up for their Better Buses campaign will be taken down.
“We were told that our posters, which call for users to complain about the bus delays this time of year, had broken bylaws and would be taken down” says spokesperson Leroy Beckett
Auckland Transport told representatives from Generation Zero that legal action would not be taken in this case.
“Auckland Transport have already begun taking down our posters and have warned us against putting up more.”
The posters were put up as part of Generations Zero’s Better Buses campaign, which encouraged Aucklanders to log their experiences of full or late buses at genzero.org.nz/bus.
The campaign was timed to coincide with the busiest time of year for the bus network, known colloquially as ‘March Madness’.
At Thursdays meeting Auckland Transport detailed the considerable efforts taken to limit the disruption to services, including extra buses being added from Sunday. The Better Buses form is currently receiving over 100 complaints a day.
Generation Zero are now exploring how to carry on the campaign.
