Kāpiti Coast Council saddened by death of Colin Pearce

Kāpiti Coast District Council saddened by death of Ōtaki Community Board member Colin Pearce

9 MARCH 2016

Kāpiti Coast District Council is today remembering the service and commitment of Ōtaki Community Board member Colin Pearce, who passed yesterday following a battle with cancer.

Ōtaki Community Board chair James Cootes says Mr Pearce was elected to the Board in February 2011.

“Colin had a genuine desire to serve his community and his time on the board was characterised by his undeniable determination, his heart for the people and his strong principles. We’ll miss his contribution and will endeavour to honour him in continuing the work he did. Our thoughts are with his wife Hillary and family.”

Mayor Ross Church says it is that desire to serve that saw Mr Pearce continue to perform his duties as his illness progressed.

“Colin was dedicated to making Ōtaki a better place and continued to advocate for his community despite his failing health. Even as recently as last month he attended the community board meeting in support of issues that mattered to him.”
