Zonta Club of Wellington Welcomes Appointment
Zonta Club of Wellington is delighted to learn that Lynn McKenzie ONZM has been appointed the Chief Executive of the National Council of Women of New Zealand.
Lynn is the immediate Past President of Zonta International and the Zonta International Foundation, organisations with very similar aims as those of NCWNZ. She has been a member of Zonta Club of Wellington for 25 years, advocating for the rights of women.
We believe she is well suited to this position bearing in mind her long involvement advocating for women’s rights, not only in New Zealand but Internationally”, says Rayoni Keith, President of the Zonta Club of Wellington.
Rayoni goes on to say, “Lynn McKenzie’s achievement of being the first New Zealander to be appointed International President of Zonta is a testament to her commitment, competence and the confidence that Zontians have, in her ability to advocate for women. Her term was a great opportunity to bring a New Zealand perspective to Zonta initiates all around the world. We all know that achieving equity for women remains a work in progress, whatever country one lives in”.
As long as some women are missing out on opportunities, their communities miss out, and no one benefits from the human potential that is patently neglected. When every person has the chance to flourish, we all flourish.
Lynn and National Council of Women of New Zealand have an enormous challenge. The Zonta Club of Wellington, look forward to actively working with and supporting Lynn in her endeavours, in her new role.
