Call to celebrate our best and brightest

3 MARCH 2016

Call to celebrate our best and brightest with Technology Valley Awards

The Technology Valley Awards were launched this morning, at a breakfast attended by many of the Hutt Valley’s leaders in the exciting and innovative STEMM* sectors.

People are urged to make nominations for any of the nine categories that celebrate the best and brightest individuals, groups, businesses and projects of 2016.

Mayor Ray Wallace says, “We have such a wealth of talent in the STEMM sectors here in the Hutt Valley, and it’s really important to recognise that – it’s great for the people and businesses that are recognised and it’s inspiring for the rest of us.

“Technology Valley is an exciting vision. It means fresh thinking, an entrepreneurial spirit and strong education and expertise. It creates wealth for our city, and excellent opportunities for our workforce.”

This is the second year of the Technology Valley Awards, which will be presented at a gala dinner on 9 June during Lower Hutt’s STEMM Festival (4 – 12 June).

The Awards are supported by Technology Valley, a collective of organisations and individuals working together to strengthen the Hutt Valley as a leader in science and technology.

Last year’s awards were presented by Prime Minister John Key, who spoke of the significance of the science and technology sector, and recognised the Hutt Valley’s strength in this.

Dulux won the award for Established Business of the Year and Dry Living Limited was recognised as the Emerging Business of the Year.
