Wild Thing turns Children's Day into crazy fun

Wild Thing turns Children's Day into crazy fun

Get outside! Go wild! That's one of the messages for children at this Sunday's free Children's Day celebration in Spencer Park.

Dedicated to celebrating children, this annual family fun day runs from 11am-3pm on Sunday 6 March. Children's Day lets adults do something special for the small people in their lives, and gives them a great chance to take part in events alongside one another.

Highlights include the performance stage, bouncy castles, face painting, a water slide and pony rides.

Children's Day this year is also encouraging parents to let their children muck around discovering nature.

Award-winning UK film-maker David Bond made Project Wild Thing, a movie aimed at getting kids out into the living world, after he realised his children were spending their childhood indoors using digital machines.

The movie is screening in Christchurch at 7.30pm on Tuesday 8 March at the Christchurch Art Gallery.

Children's Day is also a feature of Parks Week.
