Dunedin police seek witness to Oval ground assault

Dunedin Police are seeking any person that were in the area of the Oval Sports Ground on Princes Street, and may have noticed a group of males acting suspiciously around 11:25pm on the 4th of February 2016.

Around this time police were called to a reported robbery in the area, where a 20 year old male had his phone stolen by a group males after being assaulted by the group.

Police and have arrested 4 Dunedin males, aged 22, 21, 20 and 16.

They will be appearing in court 5th February 2016 on charges of robbery.

It was mentioned that another male had been verbally threatened and chased over the grounds by the group around this time also, but was able to escape the groups attention. Police are looking to identify and speak with this male to assist with enquiries.

Anybody with information which may assist Dunedin police are asked to call either the Dunedin police on 03 471 4800 on can pass information on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
